In the interest of fairness, we believe families should pay according to their ability. Therefore tuition reductions are based solely on demonstrated need. All families intending to enroll more than one child who believe they need assistance should request a Grant & Aid Assessment application. The completed confidential application is mailed directly to FACTS, who will then consider the family’s financial status and, if appropriate, recommend a fair reduced tuition. |

In good weather, students walk to a local park with adult volunteer supervision. Structured activities and free play time are included. Appropriate outerwear is required. An extra pair of play shoes and waterproof boots must be provided for your child. In inclement weather, students will participate in structured play in Bethlehem church’s Fellowship Hall. Christ-like conduct and language are expected at all times on the playground. Students are not allowed to exclude others from play or form cliques. The complete discipline policy is printed in our Parent/Student Handbook. |

To create a good self-image, encourage cleanliness and becoming dress, and to eliminate the distraction and economic burden of excessive fashion-consciousness, we have a required uniform. There is a choice of French Toast colored shirts with blue slacks and black shoes, with the added option of skirts and jumpers for the girls. The information packet includes a detailed list of uniform requirements. On Wednesdays, because of morning Chapel, boys are required to wear neckties (clip-on preferred) and girls must wear skirts or jumpers. The Parent-Teacher Fellowship holds a used uniform “closet exchange” where outgrown items in good condition may be donated or obtained by MCS families. |

MCS does not yet have a cafeteria, so students must bring a sack lunch to eat in Bethlehem church’s Fellowship Hall. The Parent-Teacher Fellowship (PTF) sells a required MCS lunchbox for a very reasonable price. No refrigerators or microwaves are available for the students, so hot or cold foods must be kept in insulated holders or vacuum bottles. The PTF organizes a Friday Fun Lunch, ordering food from a different local fast-food franchise or restaurant each week. If you want your child to participate, you will order from a selected menu and pay in advance. |

Our experience is that a multiple-grade classroom is very manageable and often beneficial. The Abeka curriculum includes time for both direct teaching and individual seatwork. While one grade receives instruction, the other grade is occupied with seatwork, which, depending on the class and subject, may be supervised by qualified volunteers or paid aides. One significant benefit of multiple grade classes is that students build true friendships and relationships with younger or older students. In that regard, MCS is much more closely resembles a natural family than the typically age-segregated educational institution. |

Morris Christian makes every effort to provide a Christian education to everyone who desires. But to commit to meeting the needs of every child, at this young stage in our development, would dilute our resources and divert us from our mission. If your child has special needs, but can be mainstreamed, please contact our administrator at (815) 941-9830 to discuss your specific situation and determine whether we can be of assistance. |

Developing an attitude of service is an important part of Christian education at MCS. One of the on-going projects is called Peanut Butter & Jelly. Students are encouraged to earn money at home or in their neighborhood by doing useful chores for parents or friends. That money is used to purchase jars of peanut butter or jelly which is donated to the We Care community food pantry, also housed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. On designated Wednesdays during Chapel, the students are recognized for bringing their jars and reporting how they earned their PB & J donation. |
